Monster Truck Show
Over the Jan 28 – 29, 2005 weekend spokesperson Emily Dieruf challenged those in attendance at the Monster Truck Show held at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY to not just say,"I support our troops" but rather to prove it through kind donations. Well, ask and you shall receive. Those in attendance on both Friday and Saturday night certainly met their challenge! With USA Cares, the Cpl Nich Dieruf Memorial Fund raised $16,000 in donations.
Amy-Jayne McCabe kicked off the event by singing the National Anthem, then continued with a song she wrote specifically for USA Cares. Lastly, she fired up the crowd with the ever patriotic "I'm Proud to Be An American." This song served as the perfect transition to Emily's speech to all of those in attendance. Emily informed the audience of her heroic husband, his sacrifice and what USA Cares is all about. She asked the audience to dig deep into their pockets to donate whatever they could as buckets were passed through each aisle.
With the help of several volunteers, an enthusiastic crowd and a dedicated USA Cares and Cpl Nich Dieruf Memorial Fund team this event was a huge success! On behalf of USA Cares and the Cpl Nich Dieruf Fund we thank each volunteer and those audience members who contributed to our most worthy cause. We also would like to send a special thank-you to Amy-Jayne McCabe. You have quite a talent; we were graced by your presence and uplifting spirit.
2006
USA Cares and the Cpl Nich Dieruf Memorial Fund participated in the 2006 Pro Sports Monster Truck Show again this year. Held on January 6 – 7 at Rupp Arena, several thousands were in attendance. Again with the help of numerous volunteers, the Cpl Nich fund raised over $7000 in donations! Both funds would like to thank not only the volunteers who so carelessly donated their time an energy, but also to those who attended the truck so and generously donated to our cause. Because of kind donations such as these, USA Cares and the Cpl Nich Dieruf Memorial Fund will be able to continue helping military families in need across the globe.
